Beef and Beer, or Mexican Steak

(Bisteces con Cerveza)

 

Ingredients:
1 pound steak
3 tablespoons oil (or lard)
salt and pepper
2 tablespoon of flour
2 cups of beer
3 tablespoon of tomato paste
1 onion - sliced
1 4 ounces can green chilli - chopped
1 teaspoon red chili pepper - chopped
1 teaspoon dried oregano

Rub salt and pepper on both sides of the steak then set aside.

Place a large frying pan over high heat and add oil. When oil is hot add the steak. Cook until golden on both sides flipping steak occasionally. Remove steak and set aside.

Add the flour to the frying pan and mix to blend. Add remaining ingredients and whisk together. Return steak to frying pan, reduce heat, cover, and let simmer until steak is tender (about 30 minutes). Add more salt and pepper if needed. Serve immediately.
